XIMIS
XIMIS, Inc. to participate in the 2004 HL7/IHE Connectathon in San Diego, California
El Paso, TX, January 22, 2004– Health Level Seven (HL7) and the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) initiative are cooperating to make data exchange between healthcare givers more of a reality and move the industry closer to the integration of information technology. . The technology that will make it possible for healthcare givers to exchange data will only be possible with industry-wide standards in place, which is being championed by HL7 and IHE working in cooperation. For months all participants of the HL7/IHE Interoperability Demonstration have been working together remotely via emails and teleconferences on various scenarios to ensure that all vendors can communicate with each other based on the specifications that have been set forth by the HL7-IHE committees. Finally, during the week of January 26th at the HL7/IHE Connectathon to be held in San Diego at the Radisson Mission Valley, the participants will get a chance to connect and go through the staging process in preparation for showcasing to the public at 2004 HIMSS.

At the Connectathon, XIMIS along with other healthcare vendors will participate to test the full spectrum of clinical applications that they have been working on and put into play a broad range of standards based scenarios in promoting the Interoperability initiative. Specifically, XIMIS will be implementing the Schedule Workflow (SWF) integration profile and acting as the hospital radiology department’s Radiology Information System (RIS) exchanging data with a series of other vendors like EPIC and Microsoft. XIRIS, XIMIS’s RIS, will provide DICOM worklist to a modality and then provide reports. “The new IHE Integration Profiles, the new work within HL7 and the partnerships with government and other standards organization move us much closer to achieving industry integration requirements for patient safety, public health and ubiquitous access with privacy and security,” says Liora Alschuler, Project Director for the 2004 Joint Demo and co-chair of the HL7 Structured and Marketing Committees.

The HL7/IHE Interoperability Demonstration, entitled Standards Drive Healthcare will occupy nearly 2,500 square feet of the exhibit space at 2004 HIMSS. Please come visit this important exhibit at Booth 4638. For more information on the HL7-IHE Interoperability initiative, please visit www.hl7ihejointdemo.org. We hope to see you at 2004 HIMSS.
